  1. An interesting premise! The double jeopardy rule has been changed here now to allow for second trials in certain circumstances, like if the accused admits to the crime after they have been acquitted, or if new evidence turns up that couldn’t have been available in the original trial. But it’s one of those questions that definitely has arguments on both sides.

    1. I thought the double jeopardy issue was really interesting, FictionFan! And thanks for sharing what’s been happening to that rule in the UK. I understand the point of that protection, and I am very glad it’s there. But as you say, there are arguments on both sides, and there are some difficult cases. I will say, this isn’t a ‘courtroom ‘ novel where the concept of double jeopardy is argued. But it adds an interesting level to this novel, I think.
