I don’t understand why anyone ever takes their dog for a walk! It never turns out well! This one sounds enjoyable – I always like that midway point between too cosy and too dark, and the Appalachian setting is appealing…
The thing is, FictionFan, if you don’t take the dog out….that doesn’t turn out well, either! But you’re right about dog walking. It can be risky. The book really does have a clear depiction of Appalachia, and what I especially liked was that it wasn’t condescending to the people who live there. I’m very glad to say her tone was respectful.
