  1. Sounds interesting and I can see why all the Māori aspect would have made it ideal for the Ngaio Marsh shortlist. As always I’ll wait till you’ve reviewed them all before picking one for my TBR, but this is certainly a strong contender…

    1. It really does give a picture of contemporary Māori concerns and race relations in today’s New Zealand, FictionFan. And the story behind the murders offers a look at history, too. The characters are distinctive as well. If you do read it at some point, I hope you’ll like it.
