I know what you mean, Linda. Strong family dynamics can add a lot to a story, because of that network of relationships. And a story with a strong sense of setting really can transport the reader.
The hurricane sounds like a good backdrop to a story with strong family dynamics. Personally I think I’d rather take my chances with the storm than be cooped up for days with my extended family! 😉
Hahaha! I know what you mean about extended family, FictionFan! And you’re right about the hurricane in this novel. It is a solid backdrop for all of that family tension and suspense. And as the suspense builds, the hurricane does, too. That part of the novel is done effectively, in my opinion.
I love stories with strong family dynamics… and I enjoy books that take me into a different world too
