Ha, with the name Hastings I guess the author was predestined to write Golden Age style mysteries! Sounds interesting – it was so much more credible to have ‘closed circle’ mysteries before all our interconnected technology made the idea of true isolation hard to swallow.
Hahaha! Yes, I thought of that name, too, FictionFan! I suppose he didn’t have much choice of books he’d write! You make an interesting point about ‘closed circle’ mysteries. It really was a lot more credible in the times before electronic communication. And that isolation aspect does add a bit of tension to the story. It’s in keeping with the times, too, which I was glad to see.
