Oh, thanks for the reminder of this one! I remember when it came out I checked the list of which books made up the eight perfect murders and I think I had read six of them. I really intended to fill in the gaps and then come back to this book but of course it never happened. I shall go and add the missing books to my wish list right now while I’m thinking about it! 😀
I really think you have the right idea, FictionFan, to read those books before reading this one. It’ll make this story more enjoyable for you, and it won’t spoil the other stories. And trust me; I know all about meaning to read a book (or books!) and not getting to it! This is definitely a nod to those who’ve read their share of crime fiction classics; I hope you’ll enjoy it if/when you read it!
I have been meaning to try something by this author for a while. Maybe not this one specifically, though the GA spoilers you mention wouldn’t necessarily put me off.
Swanson’s got talent, Col, and I’ll be interested in what you think if you do try some of his work. This particular one does have several GA references, and if that’s not your thing, you probably wouldn’t mind the spoilers. I hope that, if you do try his work, you’ll enjoy it.
