Sounds interesting and I like that it’s set in New Zealand, but maybe a bit too noir for my tastes. So the winner is last week’s contender – The Doctor’s Wife! Now all I have to do is find time to read it! Thanks as always for highlighting these novels that don’t often get much publicity on this side of the pond. π
This one is noir, FictionFan, so you’d have to be in very much the mood for that sort of book. I rather thought you’d pick The Doctor’s Wife. I really hope you’ll enjoy it when/if you get to it. And thanks for the kind words; I’ve enjoyed doing these spotlights! π
That’s so sweet of you, Sue! Thank you! π And ‘flawed but intelligent’ is a good way to describe Ray Moody. If you do get to this one, I hope you’ll enjoy it.
This also sounds like a character driven novel as well as a mystery. With all his flaws Moody seems like a likeable. Thanks, Margot for this spotlight.
It really is character-driven, Carol. And that’s one thing that appeals to me as a reader. As for Moody, he does have likeable traits. He’s got his faults and blind sides, so to speak, but he’s got a sympathetic side, too.

Love a flawed yet intelligent main character! Youβre so natural in front of the camera, Margot. Perfect way to end my day. Thank you, Margot!
