Sounds fun! I like that the bad guys don’t seem horribly bad, making modest demands and no violence. Their victim selection procedures seem as if they might need some improvement though! One for the wishlist… 😀
I like the way you put that, FictionFan! Yes, these young people need to be a bit more careful about whom they select! You’re right, too, that these ‘bad guys’ are not your typical gangland thugs. They’re broke and have thought of a non-violent way to get out of that situation. And I think Laukkanen does a good job of showing how living on the wrong side of the law wears at all of them. If you do get to it, I hope you’ll enjoy it. It’s a bit long, but not, at least in my opinion, overly protracted.
