I sometimes think we need more ‘won’t’ power than willpower, FictionFan – at least I do! You’re so right, too, about ‘normal’ detectives. I know they’re under intense pressure, and it’s very hard on them, but I do tire of the never-ending parade of alcoholic, dysfunctional types who cannot lead their lives.
