    1. Want to know something, Marina Sofia? I thought of you a lot while I was reading this. If you haven’t read it, I think you really would love it. And there are so many layers to explore in it. I think, too, that you would benefit from being able to read it in the original Japanese; I’m sure there are nuances that were missed in translation even though the story flowed well in English.

  1. Sounds very strange, but then I often find that in Japanese fiction, including crime fiction. Not sure it would work for me – I’m never good with things that veer away from reality, but it does sound unique!

    1. ‘Unique’ is a good word for it, FictionFan. It may not be everyone’s cuppa, but it does explore some interesting themes. There is a touch of fantasy to it, so if you prefer your disbelief near you when you read, you’d certainly notice that. No book is for everyone, but as you say, it’s certainly not ‘cookie cutter.’
