I’ve only read one of Rhode’s books and to be honest wasn’t overly impressed by it. However maybe I just picked the wrong book or read it at the wrong time. I shall give him another chance and stick this one on my wishlist…
Oh, yes, FictionFan! I remember your fine review of The Claverton AffairThis one was earlier on in the series, so possibly it’ll feel a bit more fresh? There is mulling over the evidence, and I can’t say that it’s a perfect read. Still, I hope you’ll like it better.
I’m happy to mention your great blog, FictionFan! As for the books, I really hope you aren’t disappointed. I’ll be keen to know what you think if/when you get to this one!

Thanks for the link, Margot! I know the Priestley books were very popular in their day, so I’m happy to give him another chance. Thanks for the nudge!
