Sounds like fun – I always enjoy a bit of adventure mixed in with a mystery! And, on the whole, I’d rather have outdated attitudes than anachronistic ones.
I know what you mean about adventure, FictionFan. It can work really well in a mystery, especially if one takes it as fun, and not too earnestly! And you’ve got a good point about outdated attitudes. I can accept them as part of a story set in (or written in) different times, even if I don’t like them. But anachronisms pull me out of a story!
